Explore the Hidden Heart of Nature and See the impressive bats of Bocas del Toro!
Your journey will take you to a plantation deep in the forest and, as you walk through the Caribbean jungle, you will be amazed by the wonders of nature.
The Bahia Honda River remains so hidden that only natives and locals can locate it among the mangroves. As you scan the treetops, you are likely to see sloths and other animals. Upon arrival at the village, you will meet the owners, who will guide you to the cave, home to five different species of bats. On the way to the bat cave, you will encounter cocoa plants and, if you are lucky, the famous Bocas del Toro red frogs and wild capuchin monkeys.
After a walk inside the cave, you will reach a natural freshwater pool deep enough for a refreshing jump from a large rock, where the more adventurous can jump in. In the cave you can see bats from the entrance, while exploring the cave we walk in fresh water (water shoes are recommended, some are available). Upon returning from the cave, we will enjoy a local lunch, prepared by the women of the community.
We will finish the activity with snorkeling at Punta Hospital, a beautiful and relaxing place, and then return to town.
